Adventist Reform is dedicated to bringing change to the Seventh-day Adventist Community.
For much of the 20th century, the leaders of the Advent Movement have managed the Third Angels message in an arbitrary, dishonest, and heavy-handed manner. This hierarchical management style became particularly evident in 1980 when the leadership moved to terminate the unresolved Righteousness by Faith discussions at Glacier View and exile the Protestant theologian Dr. Desmond Ford.
In spite of the protests from many within the Adventist community, Dr. Desmond Ford was banished from the church for promoting the true Gospel and denying the validity of the Investigative Judgment. As a result of Dr. Ford's exile, new doctrines, which were theologically false and historically invalid, were officially inserted into the Adventist Apocalyptic and promoted as Fundamental truth.Since Glacier View, the SDA leaders have taken the position that the action taken against Dr. Ford was correct and legitimate and that the “27 Fundamentals" require no revision or change.
We strongly disagree, along with millions of others who have refused to accept Glacier View theology. The fact of the matter is that the “27 Fundamentals” contain major theological and historical error that would be condemned by all the Apostles, Reformers, and Adventist Pioneers, including and especially Ellen White.
The action taken at Glacier View was an insult against the Protestant Movement and a denial of Historic Adventism. Therefore, Glacier View must be repudiated and the denominations so called “27 Fundamentals” revised in order to more accurately reflect the genuine theology of the Three Angels Messages. Which theology includes the Gospel of Luther and the Second Coming as the only Day of Judgment that the church was commissioned to proclaim. Since Glacier View in 1980, millions have left the Seventh-day Adventist church as theological confusion and schism have reigned. In an attempt to minimize further conflict, the church hierarchy moderated its teachings about the Investigative Judgment and promoted a pluralistic policy that was meant to accommodate all factions of the debate. But this dubious tactic only angered the Traditional SDA’s and pushed them closer to leaving, even as it avoided the real issues that screamed for attention.
In the spring of 2001, the leaders continued with their plan to moderate Adventist theology by implementing a new strategic plan that would essentially replace the historic doctrines of the Three Angels Messages. They would replace the old and famous prophetic messages that define this Movement with a new theological triad called: “Growth, Quality of Life, and Unity.” According to the leaders, this “new course” is “much more than just an administrative road map. Rather, it affirms the vital role of every church member in defining the church's identity and participating in its mission.”
A generation after Glacier View, without the benefit of notice or open discussion, the hierarchical leaders replaced the fundamental doctrines of the Three Angels Messages, which form the heart and soul of the Advent movement, with three impostors that are designed to reduce theological friction and facilitate membership growth for the transparent sake of self-serving financial gain.The removal of the Three Angels messages is a stunning and radical theological change that would have horrified the Pioneers. By abandoning the Three Angels Messages, the leaders have violated their fiduciary responsibility to this Movement and have betrayed their trust. They have unilaterally made decisions for the entire church that are against the clear teachings of the Apostles, and the Reformers, as well as against Historic Adventism and the fundamental teaching of the Pioneers.
To make matters worse, the arrogant and confused leaders will not allow or tolerate the open or free discussion about church history, doctrine, or the many failures of their own gross mis-management. Instead they follow a dictatorial course that is based upon propaganda, diversion, and censorship.
For years the leaders at the General Conference have stubbornly refused to discuss Glacier View, and now they refuse to engage in any public discussions about Adventist Reform. Why is that? Because the leaders are guilty of leading this church into forbidden and false paths. They are silent because they are guilty of removing the core doctrines that define this people and guilty again for failing to confess all this as the Laodicean Message demands.
But this Gospel rebellion against the Apostles, Reformers, and Adventist Pioneers has gone far enough. It is time to return to the theology and the authority of the Apostles. It is time to acknowledge the Protestant Gospel and to run from the false Roman Catholic version. It is time to defend the Three Angels Messages and tell the truth about 1888 and Glacier View.
All Adventists should demand that the leaders STOP removing the Historic Landmarks and return to the Protestant Movement. All members should demand that the leaders tell the truth about church history and follow the Protestant Hermeneutic in all things. Therefore, our Reform Mission will:
1. Hold the leaders accountable for their theological positions taken at Glacier View and demand that they either defend their theology with credible evidence or apologize to Dr. Ford, welcoming him back into the Adventist Community.
2. Promote the original, genuine, and authentic version of the Three Angels Messages that has been removed by the leaders, as well as demand that this church also return to Protestant Hermeneutic, which is fundamental to the Adventist Apocalyptic.
3. Dismantle the present Old Covenant, Roman catholic style hierarchy and develop a Protestant based congregational model that better reflects the New Covenant teachings of the Apostles and the Reformers, not Rome.
4. Mobilize the members of this Protestant body to exercise their God given rights to PROTEST all this false doctrine and corruption. Such grass roots Reform will allow this unique eschatological movement to rise above its present malaise so that this eschatological church can move forward within the Adventist Apocalyptic.
In short, the goal of Adventist Reform is to unite both members and leaders around the true eschatological “Pillars” in order to save this historic Movement from its present course of self-destruction and apostasy.
Such a plan is designed to layout a clear path that would please the Apostles and the Reformers, as well as the Adventist Pioneers. This is what we are about.
